    Saturday night Otter & Fish

I had been to the otter and fish quite a wile ago I had just read in the local paper it had been refurbished so give it a go. Book on a Saturday night peak time 19.30 a good test of the food and staff. We (a party of 4) arrived to a very busy environment lively with lots of people sat at tables in my opinion great atmosphere lovely decor met by a very young knowledgeable waitress starter for us King prawn sweet chilli sauce my pal salmon both very tasty main me £21 ribeye steak fantastic she who knows best the same our friends sword fish and chicken dish both said very tasty sweets good portion must be said the presentation of all meals were a credit to the kitchen staff The big question would I go back and would I recommend the otter and fish it's a 4 yes from us thanks for great food and a lovely evening See you soon Ps saw the salmon curry must try that next time.

    Lunch time treat

Visited with family for lunch. The restaurant is small but has a good ombiance, staff are very professional and pleasant. They have an offer on for lunches which you can choose how many courses you like. We each had 2 courses- I had fish goujions and lasagne for main which were both very good. Other family members enjoyed their meals. I would return for future meals.

AMAZING FOOD, EXCELLENT SERVICE AND VERY ACCOMODATING

Visited The Otter a& Fish whilst we were racing at Croft Circuit with family and friends. The experience was just perfect. This place came on recommendation from a local lady and we were not disappointed. Sam made us very welcome and the girls serving were FANTASTIC. Nothing was too much trouble even providing reading glasses when one of us forgot their glasses and for squeezing us in at short notice on the Saturday. The food was SUPERB and my compliments go out to the kitchen staff. I must say the belly pork was extremely good ..... so much so I had it every night for 3 nights!! Thank you to everyone for making our visit so great. My only wish would be that they were in my village!

    Wow.....again!!!

I have been to this restaurant many times and always think it can't really get any better. Well yet again I have been proven wrong. We booked late on a Wednesday for Sunday lunch and were only able to have a little cosy table opposite the bar with big comfy chairs. This was fine by us and actually resulted in a lovely, intimate place to eat. We were welcomed warmly as usual and both opted for the traditional beef lunch with all the trimmings. The portion sizes are huge and everything that is put in front of you is presented perfectly and tastes superb. I can honestly say that the Sunday lunches are the best you would find anywhere. Everything is cooked to perfection and tastes amazing. I only wish I could replicate the Yorkshire puddings!! They are faultless. Anyway, food aside - what puts the icing on the cake here is the staff. They make our visit extra special. Sam the manager is a diamond. She makes this place what it is and her personality is infectious!! Katie and Carly are also amazing girls and we genuinely enjoy seeing them on our return visits. This place deserves its status on tripadvisor and more! Thanks again to everyone for making our visit so enjoyable.

    Faultless and Funky

Right. Let's get this right from the beginning:- The Otter is not some over-serious, purse-lipped, library-silent gastro-pub. We don't go there to worship food, but to enjoy it. On the other hand, it's not some raucous chain pub with cheap drinks and microwaved food. Get the punters to glug, then serve them something made in a warehouse in Kent, frozen to death, then barely revived in a walk-in oven. They won't notice. Don't ask me how it does it. It's welcoming yet crisp and smart. And where do they get their staff from? Intelligent, witty, and efficient. Sunday lunch is the time to coin it in and serve something that your sherry-addled auntie would produce, Not so here. Crisp Yorkshires the size of a small bouncy castle, outstanding and tasty beef, and veggies sharp but not "let's make point" under-cooked. Great crack from the staff. Kind generosity from the landlady on my birthday. This palce is outstanding. Try and get a table if you can.

    “Consistently good”

Another great meal enjoyed in this fab pub. Excellent service from smiling, efficient staff. Great value three course lunch enjoyed by my husband and there is now a light bites menu for people such as myself who like smaller portions. Haven't been here for Sunday lunch but starting from 7 September the owner stated there will be a three course set meal available which we will definitely be back to try.

“Wonderful friendly family atmosphere in charming English village setting”

We visited as a 4 generation family group and we were welcomed and made to feel valued. The menu was varied and not too large, with an early bird option to choose 2 or 3 courses for very reasonable price . We all enjoyed our experience and would recommend to others. Visited September 2014

    “Hidden Gem”

“Chocolate torte is to die for! !”

Absolutely gorgeous. Start to finish. Staff very friendly, brilliant with kids. Beautiful food. Chocolate torte is probably the best dessert I've ever had. Very good value for money. Brilliant!

    “Excellent Sunday Dinner”

7 of us went for Sunday dinner to celebrate Mum's birthday. Best Sunday dinner we have eaten out to date. Food excellent, generous portions of roast meat, lots of vegetables (both quantity and variety). And I agree the Salted Caramel Chocolate Torte is to die for - so try to leave some room - I didn't have enough room to pinched some of my sisters. Staff were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Visited September 2014

    “Sunday Lunch”

Really enjoyed the two course Sunday lunch this week. Good portions and value. Food was really tasty. Relaxed atmosphere and good service. Made to feel very welcome.

“Great place, great food, just great...”

From the moment we entered to the moment we left we were made to feel so welcome. Our waitress was very cheerful and attentive but never intrusive explaining the menu and the specials in offer. The food was realty tasty and well priced as was the wine list with a decent selection on offer. The restaurant has a lovely warm feel to it and the decor is very fitting. All in all a great place with great food and great staff :))

    “Excellent restaurant”

i love this restaurant, it is probably the best in the Hurworth Village. The food is of excellent quality, and good portions,my I certainly don't feel hungry afterwards, which can't always be said. The staff knowledgeable and friendly, although the manageress/owner could learn how to smile now and then! The furnishings are of a very high quality. They also do early bird specials which again are excellent. Well worth a visit. Visited August 2014

“Delicious food presented with style and a smile”

The stylish design of the place is superbly complemented by an excellent menu that I think offers exceptional value for money for such high quality food - particularly the early evening menu! I must say that from the moment we arrived the service was great and the level of attention was just right. This time I managed to resist the black pudding starter and have to say that the Thai fishcakes were extremely tasty and will make my decision next time even more tricky! We didn't book but judging by how busy it was by the time we left, we were probably fortunate. Will book next time. Well worth a visit. Visited October 2014

    “Great place, lovely atmosphere.”

We have been here a few times now and it has always been lovely. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. It has a lovely feel to it, relaxed and laid back, but still feels like a special night out. The staff have been exceptional every visit.

    “Beautiful Cuisine”

Second time to the Otter and Fish and yet to be disappointed. The starter was amazing and the steak, was cooked perfectly. Didn't think that I had room for a pudding but when my lemon tart arrived, I didn't want to leave a piece. Gorgeous.

    “Excellent value lunch”

Enjoyed an excellent lunch here with friends. Very comfortable surroundings with friendly waitress. Had two course lunch for £10.95 which I felt was excellent value. Lots of variety to suit most tastes. Was quiet at lunchtime but I understand the restaurant is quite busy in the evening. Will definitely visit again.
